Softball Recap: Mater Dei Comes Up Short

Mater Dei fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against St. Anthony on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Lynn Shirley was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Mater Dei's record now sits at 2-5-1. As for St. Anthony, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

While Mater Dei had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
