Softball Recap: Conneaut Area Comes Up Short

Conneaut Area extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-15 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Cathedral Prep Ramblers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ramblers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 two weeks ago.

As for Cathedral Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Cathedral Prep's part, Morgan Madura made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Madura has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kendyll Steves was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Avery Pfister was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Conneaut Area will host Titusville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cathedral Prep, they will head out to face off against Slippery Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
