Baseball Recap: San Fernando Beats Golden Valley for Their Third Straight Victory

San Fernando won against Legacy on Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Tigers came out on top against the Golden Valley Grizzlies by a score of 8-3. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Grizzlies, too.

Matthew Carlos and Alex Torres were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Carlos tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Torres pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because San Fernando is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise. At the plate, Carlos got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, while Torres got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emiliano Salazar, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

The win (which was San Fernando's third in a row) raised their record to 10-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Golden Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.

San Fernando wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-5 loss against Kennedy on the 21st. As for Golden Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-0 defeat against Valencia on the 23rd.
