If the Holy Ground Baptist Academy Stallions were feeling good off their 57-31 takedown of the Oaks The Mighty Oaks last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Holy Ground Baptist Academy took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lafayette Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (57), Holy Ground Baptist Academy still had to take the loss.
It was another big night for Bruno Tellez, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds for Lafayette Christian. Tellez has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Joshua Zapata was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Holy Ground Baptist Academy bumped their record down to 6-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lafayette Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Ground Baptist Academy will challenge Trinity Christian School of Griffin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Christian School of Griffin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully Holy Ground Baptist Academy likes a good challenge. As for Lafayette Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Praise Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
