Basketball Game Preview: Georgetown G-Men vs. Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs

Georgetown is 0-3 against Lynchburg-Clay since January of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Georgetown G-Men will welcome the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs at 6:45 p.m. Georgetown will be strutting in after a win while Lynchburg-Clay will be coming in after a defeat.

Georgetown is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Clermont Northeastern: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Georgetown blew Clermont Northeastern out of the water with a 55-19 final score. The game marked the G-Men's most dominant victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Lynchburg-Clay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 49-36 to McClain. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while the Tigers are ranked 152nd).

Georgetown pushed their record up to 8-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Lynchburg-Clay, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Georgetown was taken down by Lynchburg-Clay 78-30 in their previous meeting back in December of 2016. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Georgetown was down 47-15.
