Basketball Recap: Roanoke Catholic Comes Up Short

Roanoke Catholic lost against Miller School of Albemarle back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Roanoke Catholic Celtics took a blow against the Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks, falling 73-21. The Celtics were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-6.

Sophia Gonzalez-Dolcet had a dynamite game for Miller School of Albemarle, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Gonzalez-Dolcet continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Brooklyn Wells was another key player, going 8 of 11 on her way to 16 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Roanoke Catholic and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Miller School of Albemarle, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Roanoke Catholic has already played their next matchup, a 59-46 defeat against Mountain Mission on the 17th. As for Miller School of Albemarle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-39 victory against Greensboro Day School on the 19th.
