Basketball Recap: Bloom Continues Home Dominance on Friday

After losing to Thornton the last time they met, Bloom decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bloom Blazing Trojan walked away with a 58-49 victory over the Thornton Wildcats on Friday. Given the Blazing Trojan's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Wildcats are ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Joe Jones was Bloom's leading scorer, having posted two points. Jones also led the team in rebounds with three.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Greg Fourte, who posted ten points and six rebounds. Fourte continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Maple, who scored 11 points.

Bloom pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Thornton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Bloom wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-49 loss against Lincoln Park on the 19th. Thornton has also already played their next game, a 50-45 victory against Hillcrest on the 19th.
