Basketball Recap: Cypress Creek Comes Up Short

Cypress Creek played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 78-49 loss at the hands of the Lake Howell Silverhawks. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Silverhawks are ranked 24th).

When it comes to explaining why Cypress Creek lost, don't look at Kason Beezer. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 18 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. That's the most boards Beezer has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Kingston Baez, who posted eight points.

Lake Howell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Fritz, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiel De Los Santos, who put up 15 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Cypress Creek and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Lake Howell, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Cypress Creek will take on Oviedo in a tournament on December 27th. Cypress Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season. As for Lake Howell, they will be taking part in a tournament against Kathleen at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Howell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
