Flag Football Recap: Avery Wishny's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crean Lutheran over Canyon

Crean Lutheran lost against Canyon back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Saints fell 19-12 to the Comanches. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Comanches are ranked seventh).

Crean Lutheran lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Avery Wishny, who threw for 227 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 74.1% of her passes. Hayli McIlroy was another key player, picking up 91 receiving yards and one score.

Crean Lutheran has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Canyon, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Looking ahead, Crean Lutheran will challenge Azusa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Aztecs' defense has only allowed 8.3 points per game this season, so the Saints' offense will have their work cut out for them. Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
