Baseball Recap: Tenafly Takes a Loss

Tenafly extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-9 in the process. They came up short against the Dwight-Englewood Bulldogs, falling 21-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Dwight-Englewood, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Dwight-Englewood, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Dwight-Englewood's part, Jason Lee looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Lee a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Matthew Civan was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Noah Fisher, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Looking ahead, Tenafly will take on NV - Demarest at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Dwight-Englewood, they are taking a road trip to challenge Mahwah at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
