Recap: San Marcos Rattlers vs. East Central Hornets
This season hasn't been kind to The San Marcos Rattlers, who are still winless after their tenth game. They suffered a rough 45-21 loss at the hands of East Central on Friday. San Marcos was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as East Central apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Isaiah Mackey was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 220 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Cyelan Whitley, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
San Marcos' defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 0-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.0 points per game. As for East Central, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
San Marcos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. East Central will head out on the road to face off against Reagan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Reagan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully East Central likes a good challenge.
