Recap: Randolph Southern Rebels vs. Cowan Blackhawks

The Randolph Southern Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 16th straight defeat. They took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cowan. Randolph Southern was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cowan apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Despite the loss, Randolph Southern saw an underclassman step up: Brody Mills dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mills has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ronnie Dotson, who scored nine points.

Randolph Southern's lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Ian Vance got a bit more time on the court (19 vs. his season average of 9.33). Vance made the most of the opportunity, scoring eight points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Cowan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole Duncan out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Timmy Watson, who scored 16 points.

Randolph Southern's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Cowan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.

Randolph Southern and Shenandoah will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Randolph Southern has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Cowan, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sheridan at 7:45 p.m.
