Baseball Recap: Apache Junction Gets the Win

Apache Junction not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6, 2025 (when they won 21-1). They blew past the Coronado Dons 19-1. Considering the Prospectors' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Decker Castillo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Austin Bailey was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ryan Haselhorst, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Apache Junction's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Coronado, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apache Junction will square off against ALA - Anthem South at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Coronado, they will face off against Thunderbird at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
