Hartfield Academy had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-5 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They really took it to the Lamar Raiders for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-7 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Raiders are ranked 86th).

Collin McIntyre was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Elliott, who rushed for 58 yards and one score.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Hartfield Academy proved: they limited Lamar to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. Hartfield Academy's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.7 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 8.9 on average over their last five games.

Hartfield Academy's defense didn't let Sullivan Reed, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Coleman Yoder with two.

As for Lamar, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2. The contest marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Lamar saw an underclassman step up: freshman Joe Morrow rushed for 78 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.

Hartfield Academy has already played their next game, a 49-21 victory against Heritage Academy on the 17th. As for Lamar, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 28-20 defeat against Starkville Academy on the 17th.
