Baseball Game Preview: Perry Yellowjackets vs. Mount Morris Blue Devils

Perry is a perfect 3-0 against Mount Morris since April of 2025 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will host the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Perry will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Warsaw on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 16-6 win. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Tyler Koson was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Perry's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Zachery Baker, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Perry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .721. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Mount Morris fell victim to Geneseo and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against Geneseo, falling 10-0. Mount Morris has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Perry's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Mount Morris, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Mount Morris' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Perry hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. It's a different story for Mount Morris, though, as they've only averaged .176. Will they be able to contain Perry's hitters?

Perry got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Mount Morris by a conclusive 16-6 score. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
