Football Recap: Gridley's Rushing Attack Does It Again

Gridley had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 39-point drubbing they dealt Oroville on Thursday. The Bulldogs never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 39-0 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gridley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Punzo, who rushed for 65 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 33 yards and a pair of TDs. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 54 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Marcus Duncan, who rushed for 117 yards and one score on only 15 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Gridley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Gridley's record is now 7-0. As for Oroville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
