Basketball Game Preview: Kenton Wildcats vs. Wapakoneta Redskins

Kenton is 2-7 against Wapakoneta since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Kenton Wildcats will face off against the Wapakoneta Redskins at 7:00 p.m.

Kenton is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game on Saturday. They were outmatched by Van Buren and fell 62-26. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 743rd, while the Black Knights are ranked 325th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wapakoneta, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 54-45 win over St. Henry on Saturday.

Wapakoneta pushed their record up to 7-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Kenton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Kenton was dealt a bruising 56-28 loss at the hands of Wapakoneta when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Kenton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
