Baseball Recap: Stanwood Has No Trouble Against Archbishop Murphy

Stanwood barely beat Archbishop Murphy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans blew past the Wildcats 10-2 on Monday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Tanner Requa made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Corban Forslund was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Stanwood's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Archbishop Murphy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Stanwood is set to square off against their familiar foe Monroe at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Archbishop Murphy will challenge rival Mountlake Terrace at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
