Baseball Recap: Blacksburg Comes Up Short

Blacksburg blew Christiansburg out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Christiansburg got their revenge. The Bruins fell just short of the Blue Demons by a score of 7-5. That's two games in a row now that the Bruins have lost by exactly two runs.

Soma Kato was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Sam Szefc was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Blacksburg and nudges their season record down to 7-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-3 Hidden Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.5% over those games). As for Christiansburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blacksburg will square off against Lord Botetourt at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Christiansburg, they will take on Hidden Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
