Baseball Game Preview: Bendle Tigers vs. Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy Dragons

The Bendle Tigers will square off against the Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Bendle took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Morrice, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers never let the Orioles get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Monday. The one-run effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Landon Mattis made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases.

In other batting news, Ashton Rodriguez was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases. Kaden Mattis was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 14-0 to West Michigan Christian.

Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Bendle, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bendle has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .527. It's a different story for Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy, though, as they've only averaged .345. Will they be able to contain Bendle's hitters?
