King City has gone a perfect 6-0 against Pattonsburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildkats will challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after five games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
King City barely beat Princeton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildkats took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 78-22 win over the Tigers. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Wildkats had established a 42-point advantage.

King City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Roberts, who rushed for 87 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Roberts also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending three passes. Ryder Sample was in the mix as well, providing King City with four scores.
King City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Sample led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Meanwhile, Pattonsburg humbled Stanberry with a 72-19 victory. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season.
Pattonsburg's win came from a few key players King City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Wyatt Maize, who rushed for 168 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries, and also picked up 119 receiving yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 113.4 rushing yards per game. Gage Fortner was another key passer, throwing for 326 yards and six TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pattonsburg's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Camden Griffith, Jeremy Pittsenbarger, and Collin Mason, who each picked up one sack apiece.
King City's record now sits at 5-0. As for Pattonsburg, their record is now an identical 5-0.
Everything came up roses for King City against Pattonsburg when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured an 88-48 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildkats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
