Preview: Eldon Mustangs vs. South Callaway Bulldogs
The Eldon Mustangs's road trip will continue as they head out to face the South Callaway Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on January 16th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
Eldon put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 59-37 margin over North Callaway. Given Eldon's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while North Callaway is ranked 434th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, South Callaway's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Montgomery County.
Eldon's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for South Callaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Eldon came up short against South Callaway when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 68-56. Can Eldon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
