Baseball Recap: Faith Christian's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Faith Christian had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by just one run.

Colson Gay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Gay wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Trevathan, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Trevathan a new career-high. Michael Tyler was another, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Faith Christian's victory bumped their record up to 19-5. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-8 record.

Coming up, Faith Christian will square off against Wilmington Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, they will challenge McDonogh at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
