Basketball Recap: St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Stephen's & St. Agnes). They walked away with an 85-77 victory over the Fairfax Christian Cardinals on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Saints as they're now sitting on four straight.

Riley Jacobs continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. Jacobs is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Julian Burgdolf was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Fairfax Christian still got an impressive performance from Messiah Dixon, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 21 points along with five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylen Martino, who posted eight points.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Fairfax Christian, with the defeat, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes will look to defend their home court on Friday against Benedictine at 7:00 p.m. As for Fairfax Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Virginia Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Virginia Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Fairfax Christian likes a good challenge.
