Football Game Preview: Maypearl Panthers vs. Groesbeck Goats

The Maypearl Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Groesbeck Goats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maypearl will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Maypearl barely beat Mexia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Black Cats with a sharp 43-21 win on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Groesbeck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against Whitney, falling 52-7. While losing is never fun, the Goats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 886th, while the Wildcats are ranked 358th).

Groesbeck's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Maypearl, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-6.

Everything went Maypearl's way against Groesbeck in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as Maypearl made off with a 44-21 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Goats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
