Baseball Recap: Lancaster Comes Up Short

Lancaster extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-12. They lost 14-3 to the South Pointe Stallions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stallions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-8 on Tuesday.

As for South Pointe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9. The result was nothing new for the Stallions, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

For South Pointe's part, Colton Willis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. What's more, Willis posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden McClure, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Kristian Edwards also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Looking ahead, Lancaster will face off against Cheraw at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. South Pointe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
