Football Recap: Jim Ned Indians vs. Estacado Matadors
Jim Ned took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. Everything went their way against the Estacado Matadors as they made off with a 42-21 victory. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Matadors are ranked 463rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jim Ned got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cash Gwinn out in front who threw for 187 yards and three TDs on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 67 yards. Those 67 rushing yards gave Gwinn a new career-high. Jim Ned's leading receiver Gavin Brooks was Gwinn's top target yet again, picking up 80 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Jim Ned, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Breck Lawson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Coming up, Jim Ned will challenge Trinity Leadership at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Estacado, they are taking a road trip to face off against Hereford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
