Basketball Recap: Chapin Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Chapin's tournament run continued when they took on St. Joseph's Catholic on Tuesday. The Eagles came out on top against the Knights by a score of 51-40.

Among those leading the charge was Sami Stephenson, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Those 16 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Love, who posted nine points.

Despite the defeat, St. Joseph's Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Evie Adams put up 19 points and five rebounds. The contest was Adams' fourth in a row with at least 15 points.

Chapin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Coming up, Chapin will venture away from home to square off against Spartanburg at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' defense better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 62.9 points per game this season. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Christ Church Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Adams and Sophia Mahfood.
