Softball Game Preview: Box Elder Bees vs. Bonneville Lakers

For the second straight game, Box Elder will face off against Bonneville. The Bees will welcome the Lakers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Box Elder knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Bonneville likes a good challenge.

Box Elder is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bonneville with a sharp 11-1 win. The Bees might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Lucy Braegger tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alexis Hales, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Kailee Hall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

Box Elder was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Box Elder's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Bonneville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-17.

Box Elder's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Bees have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game.
