Recap: Antioch Sequoits vs. North Chicago Warhawks
The Antioch Sequoits had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They blew past North Chicago 41-13 on the road. Given Antioch's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while North Chicago is ranked 693rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Antioch found their leader in underclassman Heidi Rathmann, who scored 14 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Rathmann has scored at least a third of Antioch's points. Adelie Gomez was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Antioch's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6. As for North Chicago, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Antioch will be playing in front of their home fans against Grayslake Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Chicago, they will head out on the road to square off against Round Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
