Softball Game Preview: Lennox Academy Panthers vs. Hawthorne Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers face off against the Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Lennox Academy came up short against Environmental Charter and fell 16-12.

Ariana Olmos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michel Estrada, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hawthorne). They were the clear victor by a 22-5 margin over Crossroads on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Roadrunners: they've now won four in a row.

Lennox Academy's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.3 runs. As for Hawthorne, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

Lennox Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Hawthorne when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does Lennox Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hawthorne turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
