Softball Recap: Weston Ranch Has No Trouble Against Waterford

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gustine, Weston Ranch was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Waterford Wildcats 13-5. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Treshia Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Weston Ranch let Mya Harrison and Baylee Santaigo run wild. Harrison got on base in four of her six plate appearances with five RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Santaigo scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Harrison is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Sarah Mohetau was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Weston Ranch now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Waterford, their defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Weston Ranch will host Delhi at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Waterford, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats challenge the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Waterford is facing Modesto at the right time seeing as Modesto is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
