Baseball Game Preview: Kodiak Bears vs. Grace Christian Grizzlies

The Kodiak Bears will head out to square off against the Grace Christian Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kodiak has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kodiak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Palmer, who was ranked 14th at the time (Kodiak was ranked 13th). The Bears came up short against the Moose on Friday, falling 15-5.

Zeke Saltonstall was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Grace Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Redington on Monday. The Grizzlies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-12 victory over the Huskies. The Grizzlies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Grace Christian's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Kodiak, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Kodiak took their victory against Grace Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
