Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Mendon Unity

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Abingdon/Avon, Mendon Unity was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans by a score of 43-32. The win was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Trojans are ranked 184th).

Mendon Unity moved to 3-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Coming up, Mendon Unity will challenge Quincy Notre Dame at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Rushville-Industry at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
