Softball Preview: Richland County Tigers vs. St. Anthony Bulldogs

The Richland County Tigers will head out to face off against the St. Anthony Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Richland County will be strutting in after a victory while St. Anthony will be coming in after a loss.

Last Wednesday, Richland County made easy work of Benton and carried off a 21-9 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Taylor Bloomer and Kaiya Seessengood were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Bloomer tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Seessengood pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That one hit allowed gave Bloomer a new career-low. At bat, Bloomer went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Seessengood scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Bloomer has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Richland County let Miranda Dowty and Kaitlin Kocher run wild. Dowty scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Kocher scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, Dowty posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nora Stevens, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Richland County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benton struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, St. Anthony was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Charleston, falling 9-1.

Julia Schultz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. That run was her first of the season.

Richland County's record now sits at 2-0. As for St. Anthony, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
