Baseball Recap: Southmoore Comes Up Short

Southmoore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Moore Lions, falling 11-1. If the SaberCats were looking for revenge after losing 13-1 to the Lions when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Southmoore got a good showing from Kody Lonsbury, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Lonsbury has allowed over his last six games.

At the plate, Southmoore saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shane Fordenbacher, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Fordenbacher is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Owen Harding also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Southmoore's record now sits at 12-16. As for Moore, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-11 record.

While Southmoore had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
