Recap: Papillion-LaVista South Titans vs. Omaha Central Eagles
The Papillion-LaVista South Titans fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Omaha Central Eagles on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 58-55. It was the first time this season that Papillion-LaVista South let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Papillion-LaVista South still got an impressive performance from Bryson Bahl, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 36.4% of Papillion-LaVista South's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Frost, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Omaha Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devin Holmon, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holmon has scored all season. D.j. Sterling was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Papillion-LaVista South's loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3. As for Omaha Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Papillion-LaVista South won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Warriors at 4:45 p.m. on January 20th. Omaha Westside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully the Titans likes a good challenge. Omaha Central will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Griffins at 5:15 p.m. on January 20th. Gretna East is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season.
