The Red Bank Catholic Caseys will take on the Watchung Hills Regional Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Watchung Hills Regional will be up against a hot Red Bank Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. The Caseys were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over Southern Regional on Friday.
Red Bank Catholic got a massive performance out of Jayden Kane, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Lia Marks also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Red Bank Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Watchung Hills Regional). They put the hurt on Hillsborough with a sharp 11-3 win on Thursday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Mia Simon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Leila Romero was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Kalfus, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
Red Bank Catholic pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Watchung Hills Regional, their record now sits at 12-1.
Both Red Bank Catholic and Watchung Hills Regional just can't seem to miss. The Caseys have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. However, it's not like Watchung Hills Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.9 hits.
