Preview: Cathedral Prep Ramblers vs. Erie Royals

The Cathedral Prep Ramblers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Erie Royals at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. One thing working in Cathedral Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests.

Even though McDowell scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, Cathedral Prep still came out on top. Cathedral Prep snuck past McDowell with a 64-60 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given Cathedral Prep's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while McDowell is ranked 43rd).

Cathedral Prep's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Amaree Pickens, who scored 16 points along with four steals and two blocks, and Nando Mirarchi, who scored 23 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Pickens posted two or more blocks. Michael Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Erie posted their biggest victory since December 2, 2023 on Friday. Everything went their way against Fort LeBoeuf as Erie made off with a 66-42 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Erie.

Cathedral Prep pushed their record up to 8-8 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Erie, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Cathedral Prep came up short against Erie in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 51-42. Can Cathedral Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
