Softball Recap: Methacton's Winning Streak Snapped at 11 Games

Methacton dropped their record down to 13-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins. They lost 12-3 to the Owen J. Roberts Wildcats. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Owen J. Roberts, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

For Owen J. Roberts' part, Maddie Reed made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Reed has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bella Winnick was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Amelia Atkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Methacton is set to square off against their familiar foe Upper Perkiomen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Owen J. Roberts will take on rival Spring-Ford at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.8, the Rams 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
