Softball Recap: Clay County Tigers vs. Pineville Mountain Lions

Thursday just wasn't the day for Clay County's offense. They fell just short of the Pineville Mountain Lions by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. Clay County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pineville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March.

For Pineville's part, not much got past Rachel Howard, who gave up just five hits and racked up 18 Ks to keep Clay County off the board.

On the hitting side, Nadine Johnson was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Clay County's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Pineville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
