Basketball Recap: St. John's Christian Academy Starts Season with Loss on the Road

St. John's Christian Academy had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Northwood Academy Chargers, falling 69-10.

Northwood Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maliyah Birch out in front who went 8-for-12 en route to 19 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Birch a new career-high in shooting accuracy (67%). Kylee Clarke was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. St. John's Christian Academy will take on Calhoun Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northwood Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Bishop England at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
