Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tomball). They breezed past the Magnolia West Mustangs to the tune of 48-7 on Friday. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Mustangs are ranked 339th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tomball's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxyn Faldyn, who threw for 221 yards and four TDs on only 18 passes. The dominant performance also gave Faldyn a new career-high in passer rating (143.8). Ian Thomas helped Faldyn out on the ground, rushing for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries.

Tomball was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Magnolia West only rushed for 104.

Tomball's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Magnolia West, they are on a three-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Coincidentally, Tomball and Magnolia West will both be playing Klein the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Bearkats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 9.
