Softball Recap: Peru Wins Going Away Against Northfield

Peru barely beat Northfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers put the hurt on the Norsemen with a sharp 9-3 win on Wednesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Norsemen recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Bailee - 'Boo' Kintner made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Peru got a big performance out of Marlee Honn, who went 1-for-2 with three runs. Those three runs gave Honn a new career-high. Kelsea Hampton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Peru now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Northfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Peru is taking a road trip to take on Argos at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Northfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Norsemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Giants have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
