Baseball Recap: Smithfield-Selma Takes a Loss

Smithfield-Selma lost against West Johnston back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spartans lost 8-1 to the Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly seven runs.

Smithfield-Selma saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Gregory, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Smithfield-Selma dropped their record down to 1-20 with the defeat, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for West Johnston, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Coming up, Smithfield-Selma will venture away from home to face off against Knightdale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Johnston, they will host Fike at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
