Recap: Hoopeston/Armstrong/Schlarman vs. Westville
Hoopeston/Armstrong/Schlarman have had to suffer through a 3-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. On Friday, they secured a 26-20 W over Westville. Westville can consider this payback for the 6-48 defeat they dealt Hoopeston/Armstrong/Schlarman the last time the teams encountered one another.
Hoopeston/Armstrong/Schlarman's success was spearheaded by the efforts of junior Vaughn Black, who caught passes for 202 yards and 3 touchdowns, and junior Marcus Blurton, who passed for 283 yards and 4 touchdowns. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Anthony Colunga, who racked up 14 tackles.
The win bumped Hoopeston/Armstrong/Schlarman's record up to 2-4. Westville are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-6.
Hoopeston/Armstrong/Schlarman will be staying on the road next week, facing off against Salt Fork. Salt Fork took a loss in their last contest and are no doubt out to reverse Hoopeston/Armstrong/Schlarman's good fortune. Westville will stay at home against Westmont at 7:00 PM. The squad will be hoping to continue their now five-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
