Recap: St. Paul Lutheran Giants vs. Bunker Eagles
The St. Paul Lutheran Giants's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Bunker 67-34. While losing is never fun, St. Paul Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while Bunker is ranked 178th).
St. Paul Lutheran's loss came despite strong showings from Mia Sherrill and Josie Berkery. Sherrill scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two blocks, while Berkery scored 12 points. That was a full 44.1% of St. Paul Lutheran's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
St. Paul Lutheran has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Bunker, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
St. Paul Lutheran will be playing in front of their home fans against Meadow Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully St. Paul Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday. As for Bunker, they will head out on the road to challenge Valley at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
