Football Game Preview: Dawson Bulldogs vs. Mildred Eagles

The Dawson Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Mildred Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Dawson didn't have too much trouble with Italy as they won 39-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Brant Boatright produced another solid effort rushing for 187 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 182 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes. He has become a key player for Dawson: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 2-5 otherwise. The Bulldogs' leading receiver Chace Thomas was Boatright's top target yet again, picking up 117 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Dawson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Mildred never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Cross Roads 39-0. The Eagles' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Mildred's record is now 8-2. As for Dawson, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Dawson has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 159.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mildred struggles in that department as they've been averaging 239.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
