Baseball Recap: Southern Lab Starts off Right with Win over Mckinley

Southern Lab took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the McKinley Panthers as the Southern Lab Kittens made off with a 14-2 win. The Kittens haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Robert Gordon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Gordon was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Southern Lab let Tyrius Marioneaux and Michael Plummer loose on the outfield. Marioneaux scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Plummer scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base.

Coming up, Southern Lab will take on Northeast at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McKinley, they will head out on the road to take on Madison Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
