Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Eagles vs. Southern Tornadoes

Eastern hasn't had much luck against Southern recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eastern Eagles will welcome the Southern Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Eastern came up into this matchup off a tough 44-point defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Caldwell by a score of 71-68 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Redskins are ranked 118th).

Meanwhile, after soaring to 56 points the game before, Southern was a bit more limited in their matchup two weeks ago. They had to suffer through a 59-22 loss at the hands of Ravenswood. The game marked the Tornadoes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Southern's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Eastern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Eastern lost to Southern at home by a decisive 53-34 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Eastern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
